Annual Pilgrimage to Woodbridge

Created by Martin 3 years ago
Nearly every year for the last 25(?) years I accompanied Nick to stay at his parents home, The Limes. Our routine was to arrive on Saturday evening after a round of golf at Woodbridge (I was traditionally thrashed, with Nick very occasionally graciously accepting defeat). The evening followed a familiar pattern of dinner with Bernard and Liz followed by a raucous game of Yahtzee in which Bernard and Nick would take great delight in shouting "Cocked Dice!" if a dice fell off the table. Later, only Liz was our host but the routine remained the same. We would stay up late for a couple of Beers then in the morning Liz would send us off to Golf with a large cooked full English Breakfast. The Breakfast preparation got more hazardous as the years went on but Liz tackled it fearlessly much to our amusement! It was a lovely heart warming event that marked the Spring of each year. My fondest memory of it though, is Nick and I sharing a bedroom with twin beds like two children. It was funny when we were 25, it was hilarious by the time we were 50. We would lie in bed, lights out, chatting and giggling like two little kids!
